Bruce Bauman – The “ IronCanuck”
Age: 51
Occupation: Professional speaker

I am known as the “IronCanuck” and encourage you to check out my website at www.ironcanuck.com for detailed information on me as an athlete and PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER.

I grew up in Canada and like most Canadian males played hockey for the majority of my life. However, I discover triathlon and have been doing them since 2000 and I have completed 8 Ironman triathlons plus a number of other distance running/swimming/triathlon races. I have been a member of the Elite TIMEX Multisport Team since 2000 which as a group in 2006 was comprised of 45 top athletes (pro & amateur) representing 11 different countries from around the world. For some fun reading I encourage you to check out the team blog at http://teamtimex.timexblogs.com/

I am often asked what my favorite race is and I always answer the same: Ironman Canada. This was the first Ironman I did and the support of the community is absolutely amazing. I was shocked while attending a volunteer dinner to find out some volunteers have been involved for 20 plus years!!!. I have done this race a total of 4 time and 2007 marks the 25th anniversary of this race. A very close second is the Oliver ½ Ironman held in June every year in beautiful Oliver, BC ,Canada.

In my time in the sport I have come to appreciate the down time which is absolutely necessary and I can often been seen when not training with one or more of my four children fishing on the beautiful west coast of Canada. This is something I have done ever since the kids were small and I actually remember changing a diaper in the boat when a big salmon bit. It was a crazy time but in the end the diaper got changed, the fish was landed and we had a fish story to tell for ages.

I wish you well in your racing. Remember anything is possible if we believe in ourselves.
