Sports I like to play: Swim, Bike, Run, Golf
Where I live and play: Scottsdale, Arizona Road, trails, mountains… anywhere outdoors.
Marital status: Married to Suzanne for 10+ years, she is a saint
Kids: Nathan, Joel, Max
Animals: None Yet - 3 young boys is plenty.
First love: Sun Devil Football
Favorite race: Escape from Alcatraz - I get really amped up jumping off that boat. I also enjoy Lake Sahuarita and the city of Carlsbad triathlon - they embody what the sport is about.
What you want to be when you grow up: A triathlete who qualified for Hawaii and finished.
Favorite place to be active: Anywhere outside especially if it is at a tri event
Role model: My mother - she has never given up despite having every reason to do so.
Ideal weekend: Any weekend racing with my tri-team buddies, Lewis, and Preston.
Proudest moment: Crossing the finish line at Ironman Arizona in 2005- In January 2003, I weighed over 120 lbs more than I do today. So many people told me that I would never finish an Ironman that I almost believed them. Those same people tell me I will never qualify for Hawaii. Who is your money on?
Best training tip: Work as hard as you can because you know someone else is. If you ever feel like quitting just ask yourself "is there something you would rather be doing?" You know what my answer is.
Gear I can't live without: My Kuota. Quite simply a great machine.
Favorite pre-workout/race meal: Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel toast with lots of Peanut butter.
When I'm not riding, (running or swimming) I'm: Sleeping cause Mel is killing me.
