Catching up on Spring!

Alright depending on where you live spring is still trying to pop up or maybe if you are in the desert the heat of summer is just around the corner.

I am catching up on the past 4 weeks as I sit in the Calgary airport waiting for my flight to Frankfurt and then it is on to Mallorca for a week of riding - stay posted for updates!

So TONS has happened over the past month so lets start in chronological order.

Our dear friend Marc Rubin had the most unfortunate experience with a car while out for his morning spin as a result put him out of IMAZ but not to worry - this super guy is well on the road to recovery and will be back on the IM racing scene up at IM Couer D'Alene.  He had sent me some photos but I will be honest they are not for the squeemish - so rather than display those beauties I will wait until I get that glorious photo of you up in Idaho:)

On the race scene Endurance Health and Fitness Athletes have been busy as always.

  • Suzanne Flannigan enjoyed a return to racing in her new home of Lethbridge with a season opener 10k - not long now before she jumps right back in with her first triathlon scheduled for May.
  • Britni has been busy as she spent a quick trip down in San Diego to check out the wind tunnel and then returned a few weeks later to jump into her favorite early season race  - the California 70.3.  Brit took a good off-season over the winter after her phenomenal 2007 season culminating with a 1st in the W40-44 at the Ironman World Championships, so with some good base miles under her she went to California for some fun in the sun - and how much fun did she have - 3 sec seperated her and the girl who won her age-group with a final time of 5:03:23 Brit had a great time racing and as I like to call it "playing in the sandbox"  What a way to start the season - Congrats Brit!
  • Then of course last week - April 13th Ironman Arizona took place.  Congratulations go out to both Nancy and Kyle for a great day!  The stats on the race are mind-blowing, with crazy winds and brutal temps well into the mid 90's these 2 rock!  And it was Nancy's first go at an IM race - and she finished sub 14hours!  You go girl!!!!!!  A little breather a few fun cycling trips and you will see her smiling face up at IM Canada in August.  Kyle will have a new stat for himself- how much longer can the run take than the bike - and it is not for a lack of planning - the reality is that this is Ironman and a day can be what it will be and often times it is the question," what does this mean to me and how far will I go"  that one will ask oneself several times throughout the day.  Well Kyle there is no doubt that you dug deep and you went far and congrats on your day.

So......until next time.....get out there and move - it was what we were meant to do!

Cheers,

Melissa
