It has been WAY too long
Can not believe we are going on to 2months since the last update!
Things have been busy busy - athletes racing, training camps going on, so lets play a bit of catch-up and see where everyone is at!
Michael Carson survived the frigid waters of Cultus Lake back in May and still has all his toes and fingers - a good thing seeing that he is getting ready for the Desert 1/2 in just over 2 weeks time and then on to IM Canada!
Sue Taylor has been busy playing on the island with the Life Sport 1/2 IM series having complete both the Shawnigan 1/2 and the Elk Lake New Balance 1/2 just this past weekend- in a couple weeks time she will be busy checking out the streets of Vancouver in the Vancouver 1/2 IM
Suzanne Flannigan has dipped her toes back into the racing scene after surviving her first Lethbridge winter as she did a relay at the Elk Lake 1/2 as she works towards the Sylvan Lake 1/2 IM in just a few weeks time
Val is heading off to Europe - more great places to see as she swims/bikes and runs her way around the globe- IM Switzerland is next on her list and she is in the thick of her training
We had a great training camp up here in Vernon last weekend getting some great open water swims in, a good run along the lake and of course the ride out past Armstrong - always a favorite
And then finally this past weekend I headed down to one of my most favorite towns ever, Couer D'Alene,Idaho for Ironman. Melisa and Marc both competed. A tough day out there to say the least with cool water temps and a bit of wind on the bike- but hey it's an Ironman! After crashing just 2 weeks pre-race day Melisa got back up on the saddle and she went for it! Congratulations girl! Marc suffered with some GI issues this round and after running to and fro from porto-potty to bush(you get the picture) decided that after the 1/2 mark it was time to call it a day. Always tough - more tough as the day goes by and you question your action - but you know what- the decision is made and the day goes on and I know that Marc learned a ton about that day and I believe it is those tough moments that we often learn the most from. So here is to a bit of recovery time and then the next challange.
Up here in the North summer temps have finally arrived and race season is in full swing - so get out there and move and take pride in what you do!
Cheers
