Racing it up on the island

After moving back to Canada in August of last year I have had the chance to particpate in a number of relay events and this weekend was no different.  One thing that seems to be the common factor in most of these relays is the fact that Suzanne Flannigan gets the brilliant idea that we should do one and then she goes and gets surgury(laser eye surgery, shoulder surgery, etc....) so with Suzanne cheering loudly myself and my crazy physio friend Barbara we were Team Endurance Health Chips and Chicks(don't ask!?!?!?!) at the inaugural Victoria International 1/2 IM held at Shawnigan Lake this past weekend.  Whenever you are with fit, fun, healthy and happy people fun times were had, from the 1970's tapes on the drive up in the Westfalia to the great coffee afterwards - oh yeah the race - much fun was had.  After a good swim on my part(not sure where that came from!) I handed the chip over to Barb and she rocked through the 88km bike ride in a time of 2:26 - you go girl!  And then I had to run.......Well we finished in a respectable 4:37 clocking and first in the female relay division, yet 5th overall in relays, so some work to do for next time:)

In addition to the team, D'arcey tackled the course solo and with IM Couer D'Alene in 4weeks it was a perfect little dress rehearsal for pacing and nutrition, Finishing sub 5:30 D'arcey is in the perfect place to go after her IM goals - Go D'arcey Go!

Congrats go to all the racers and the organization for putting on a great first time event - pictures will be up shortly.

Next week is busy with Alcatraz and Panarama and Oliver 1/2 - Lots of racing to be had so you better get out there!
